Patricia "Patty" DeJuneas is an experienced criminal defense, appellate, and trial attorney. She represents clients in criminal and civil matters in federal and state trial courts in Massachusetts and Connecticut as well as the First Circuit Court of Appeals, the Supreme Judicial Court and Massachusetts Appeals Court.

Attorney DeJuneas is known for her tenacity, speaking truth to power, and litigation skills.  When warranted, she does not hesitate to pursue claims of government, prosecutor, and law enforcement misconduct. Her representation does not end at the courthouse door; rather, Attorney DeJuneas has the skills and know-how to advocate through media, legislators, and other mechanisms to bring the public's attention to important cases and issues.

With her outstanding writing skills, strategic thinking, and strong work ethic, Attorney DeJuneas has what it takes to succeed in civil rights litigation, fighting for your rights in criminal cases, as well as civil, administrative, and criminal appeals.

Among her many accomplishments, Attorney DeJuneas has:

  • represented prevailing parties in the First Circuit Court of Appeals, Supreme Judicial Court and Massachusetts Appeals Court;
  • successfully proved in a federal theft of trade secrets case that the jury's guilty verdict was irreparably tainted by prosecutorial misconduct;
  • prevailed in an appeal from the granting of a motion for a new trial in a premises liability case and won reinstatement of her client's multimillion dollar verdict;
  • obtained a judgment of acquittal on appeal in a criminal case, preventing her client from being retried;
  • obtained a preliminary injunction against the Massachusetts Department of Correction after the state maximum security prison barred attorneys from visiting their incarcerated clients, cut off all telephone and email systems, and illegally seized and lost or destroyed tens of thousands of pages of privileged legal documents;
  • tried and succeeded in numerous high-profile cases in Massachusetts and Rhode Island with the late, legendary Richard M. Egbert;
  • successfully challenged and helped to rewrite attorney search regulations at the Massachusetts Department of Corrections; and
  • obtained a rare hearing on her incarcerated client's petition for commutation, based on his remarkable transformation and growth during decades served behind bars.
